Printing Processes

Relief Process
This process is mostly about using pressure along the block with your drawing on it. At this point, the block has been inked and you can now put a thin piece of paper over the block. Start using the baren applying even and gentle pressure all around the block to transfer the ink to the paper. How to ink the block is different. Have wood and use Indian ink wash and brush over the wood. Then you put black ink over the block and carve on it. Then you start the process of using the baren. Once you finished all of that, enjoy your newly relieved drawing.

Intaglio Process
For this process, you start off on a copper sheet etching your image into it with some tools. Now you have to steel face the copper plate. Before all of this, you have to polish the entire plate to make sure there are no marks or scratches beforehand. Next, you apply the ground. Hard ground is usually made of asphaltum, wax, and rosin. It's used to help protect the white areas of the artist's drawing. Then you smoke the plate, letting the ground to burn into the plate making it jet black. You then etch away the soot and make your image. Then you submerge your image in acid, eating away the black lines from the etching. You then rinse it off, then dip it back in the acid for about 15 minutes. Now you have your newly copper etched drawing.

My Choice
Out of all of these, I would choose the Intaglio process because I think it would be pretty cool. I'm not much of an artist, but some of the things I come up with in my head would look awesome on a metal sheet.
