The Wizard of Oz Poster Project

Contrast

For some of my contrast, I used many different colors such as the yellow for the Wizard and Oz, the black for some of the other words, and blue for Northwest and the info about the play. Contrast was one of the main things for this poster to really pull people in and to see this play.  For the text part of Contrast, I used the same font for The Wizard of Oz, the same for Olathe Northwest Theatre Presents, and the same font for all of the info about the play as well.

Alignment

I mostly used left align for this poster, but the Wizard of Oz part is centered because making it left align wouldn't have looked as good. That's the main thing that people need to see, so I centered it. For the info on the play, I used left align and took advantage of the Yellow Brick Road and put the info in the bricks. It isn't hard to read so the person reading it won't snap their neck trying to read it. And the bottom right-hand corner is right aligned because the left align didn't work out.

Repetition

For stuff to repeat, it needs to be legible and not the same boring thing repeating. Some of my colors and font repeat in a good manner. Other than that, nothing much else repeats itself. Repetition is good, but you don't want to have everything repeating itself too much or it will just be a jumbled mess.

Proximity

Grouping is very important when it comes to promotional posters. You need everything that goes together to be together. I put the date, the time, and the cost of the tickets together and where to go to get the tickets together and all the stuff in the bottom right-hand corner that no one reads all together as well.
